MESA International is hosting Smart Manufacturing Now!, a global online event taking place from September 23-26. The event will showcase the evolution of Smart Manufacturing, its current state, and potential future developments. Our analytics expert Martin Strempel will give a presentation on September 25:
The world is racing to meet the growing demand for better and more affordable batteries. Already crucial for modern society, batteries enable portable electricity and support future clean technologies such as grid storage and electric transportation. In this fiercely competitive industry, only those companies that can master the complex production processes will be able to provide cost-effective products at a giga scale. The digital transformation of battery manufacturing plants is seen as a key step, giving companies that successfully execute their digitization goals a significant strategic advantage.
This presentation will explore how battery manufacturers and their ongoing progress towards Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing is driving innovations in Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM). Specifically, we look at how the early detection of quality issues is placing unprecedented demands on these systems to provide real-time traceability and serialization for unprecedentedly large data sets. Traditional Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) are typically not equipped to manage these data volumes, necessitating fundamentally new architecture for a digital manufacturing framework. This new framework enables manufacturers to improve quality and reduce scrap faster with real-time traceability and AI-assisted data-driven decisions.
